What is Ace 031?

Ace-031, also known as ACVR2B, is a soluble form of activin type IIB receptor, which is an inhibitor of myostatin and other naturally occurring proteins that limit muscle growth. How does Ace 031 Works?

ACE-031 acts by binding to proteins that normally signal through a particular activin receptor called ActRIIB. Myostatin and other related proteins signal through this receptor to limit muscle growth. When ACE-031 binds to these proteins, it prevents them from interacting with the ActRIIB receptor, thus allowing muscle to grow.

The critical difference between ACE-031 and antibodies to myostatin is that ACE-031 inhibits multiple regulators of muscle mass in addition to myostatin.
